My MacBook Pro burnt my leg!
Overall, I am very please with my MacBook Pro. However, there are 2 things about the mac I dislike.
First is the heat issue. I could make scrambled eggs on it when it gets hot. Not to mention how loud it gets. I know Apple is all about style, and that is why their isn't that many fans in it, but geez, I would rather have my laptop not overheat!
Second over course is the price of their computers. Need I say more.
Anyways, I just had to get that off my chest.

It will increase the base noise a bit, but you can keep the fan from ramping up to full speed by setting the base speed higher. I usually set my MBP fan to 2000 as the baseline speed and it's warm but workable on my lap.
HTH.
I get way more bang for my buck with a home-built PC and I don't have that many extra bucks to throw down on the pretty box.
Maybe someday I will have more bucks or maybe someday having a Mac will require fewer of them. Until then, I will be happy with my Quad Core XP Box with 4gb RAM that I built for $900. FYI, It would only have cost me $650 if I had but Linux on it. But I'm not smart enough to run Linux ;)
@Jason, I know what you mean. Luckily my department paid for my Mac otherwise I would be in the same boat as you, except I would run Linux :). I have thought about getting a Mac Mini since those are some what reasonable.
